What is coaching?
Coaching helps you move forward from where you are to where you want to be. It is a partnership with someone who can help you achieve a greater level of clarity and focus and produce fulfilling results in your personal and professional life. As your coach I provide you with feedback, tools and techniques, guidance, structure and support to help you realize your unique talents and gifts and then maximize them to achieve the success you want. Coaching is forward-looking and action-oriented.

How is coaching conducted?
Coaching is conducted through structured, insightful, and supportive conversations. While I do the majority of my one-on-one coaching over the phone, in-person sessions can be arranged by special request. In each coaching session I listen, ask questions, contribute observations, and help you apply practical tools and techniques to clarify and focus on your vision, goals, strategies, plans and solutions.

Teach you tools and techniques and remind you to use them
-
Serve as your support system and challenge you to go beyond where you would normally stop

How is coaching different from counseling or therapy?
Coaching is about the present and the future and taking action based on goals and objectives. Coaches work with healthy, alive people and help them to move forward. Coaching is not about trying to uncover or solve issues in the past, although insights about the past often occur as a result of coaching. Coaching is not intended for, or effective with, individuals who have severe mental or emotional problems or who have addictions.

How is coaching different from business consulting?
Usually you hire a business consultant when you want someone to come up with specific recommendations and tell you what to do. While coaches can and do address business issues and processes, they also take into account your personal desires, needs, and goals. Instead of just telling you what to do, as your coach I facilitate your professional growth and development so that you can make better, more informed, decisions for yourself.
Here's a simple way to decide whether consulting or coaching would serve you best:
If you need technical information and advice, and you need it right away so that you can move forward, then a consultant may be the answer. If you want to develop a new way of thinking and being so that you can consistently work at a higher level in your life and in your career or business, then coaching is likely to be a better solution.
